If you live in this area, you would know that Tiong Bahru is the hippiest and oldest area in Singapore. Surprisingly beautiful and quiet neighborhood just like a dot of serendipity in the middle of the always-so-busy-wan city.
With a hungry belly and extra cash to spare, we paid a visit to Tiong Bahru Bakery as recommended by the locals.
Catching a flight in 2 hours? Coffee first.
Checked out from Bunc [Review here], got on the MRT, dragged le suitcase under the drizzly sky and arrived at TBB. It was 9:30am and the cafe was flooded with hungry folks and coffee lovers. Almost gave up queuing because the wait was 45 mins long but thankfully we managed to get a table right where we wanted in about 15 mins.
Coffee and savoury pastry were excellent. Yolkramen eggs were nicely seasoned, warm croissants were crispy on the outside and flakey on the inside. I'd skip the Guacamole Bun even though it was decent because the price was quite a pinch for what it is. Expected more guacamole people.
Will definitely head back for more desserts and doughy goodness. Are you up for a cup of good coffee? x
